PICKING TULIPS

Last week we went tulip picking with the kids for the first time. One is 10 years old, the other 1 and a half. There is an actual shortage in activities they can share, and enjoy.
I never imagined that such a simple activity would be so well received by both kids. We live in an apartment in the city, and we go to parks and playgrounds of course, but this experience was completely new for all of us. They were just excited to be able to get the flowers out of the ground, pick whichever they liked, and get their hands dirty!!

Me? I enjoyed watching my kids having fun, of course picking the tulips. Which btw is not as simple as I thought.  You actually have to try and get the bulb out, so there is a lot of pulling and digging so the stem doesn't break. As you can tell I've done very little gardening in my life!
Oh! And arranging the flowers and watching them open to all their beauty.

I must say these are by far the best tulips I've ever seen. Not the common variety sold in most places here in Amsterdam.
We loved it so much we are going back this weekend. Tulip season is almost over!
So even if there aren't any tulips in your area, any picking activity will guarantee a lot of fun for the whole family!

Have a wonderful weekend!!
